My career path as a handbag designer began in 1999 when I started to work as assistant for patterns and cut in the workshop of designer Mishal Katz in Buenos Aires. A lot of coincidences braught me to Barcelona years later, where I began to work with Lluis Generó and, with his help, opened up my own handbag and accessories store ¨capricho de muñeca¨ in 2007.
In 2018 I decided to change the brands name to my own, Lisa Lempp. It felt like the right moment to give my designs a more personal approach which helped to consolidate their concept: a local, artisan label giving emphasis on sustainable, slow fashion styles.
I create and realize all of my designs in my workshop-store located in the neighbourhood Born, Barcelona.
I design timeless, functional and long-lasting bags. Local design, the craftmanship and the proximity of production, are important to me and so is traceablility.
Through this involved process of creation and production handbags and small leather goods in limited editions come up.
What I love most is the art of making patterns. Colors, the details of some garnement, the shapes of a building or even shadows can trigger an idea. As my designs contemplate the functionality, most of them are genderless. They are for him, her and everyone.
The leather I use is recycled leather from the food industry. For linings I use cotton.
Some of the leather I make use of is vegan tanned, an artesan way of dying the leather employing only pigments of vegetable origin. The vegan tanned procedures are more natural and environment friendly as they do without toxics and heavy minerals.
Currently my designs diversify in two different collections:
Capricho Collection and the Raw Cut Collection.
Every single bag is the proposal to enjoyment.
Each bag is a small part of my story. It would be great if they could become part of yours too.
